Sarah and David’s elegant wedding was everything they wanted and more.
There are so many things about Sarah and David’s elegant wedding that I fell in love with… From her exquisite ethereal wedding dress (that belonged to her mother!), to the beautiful reception details and adorable flower girls. The couple’s day was captured by fine art wedding photographer James Simmons.
Sarah and David, got married on the 7th December 2013, in according to Sarah, ‘a beautiful back yard amongst the trees. Their reception venue was at the RiverBank Estate. Although the couple did not particularly have a clear idea in their heads about the look/style of wedding they wanted, Sarah said that she knew they wanted, ‘an intimate, genuine, natural and beautiful wedding that felt like us and was a great celebration of the adventure we were embarking on.’
You can’t help but be inspired by Sarah and David’s elegant wedding. I hope you enjoy looking at their stunning photographs as much as I did…
How incredibly beautiful is Sarah’s wedding dress, which was worn by her mother almost 32 years ago? Just perfect for their elegant wedding. It was originally made by Perth dress maker Mrs Gillies in 1981. The bodice was made out of white Spanish lace with a satin skirt with chiffon overlay and train. Sarah’s mother made her veil. David’s mother created her stunning bouquet.
Sarah’s hair and make up is so beautifully timeless.
How adorable is this photograph of one of Sarah and David’s flower girls? They wore dresses by Pumpkin Patch. Their coronets were by Touched by Angels, who also did all the arrangements at the reception.

This is one of my favourite photographs from the wedding as it is so spring like!
The decor of Sarah and David’s wedding was very special to them and according to Sarah was ‘exquisite, thanks to Touched by Angels.”The most impressive feature of the décor was a floral installation above the central bridal table, created with hydrangea, chrysanthemum, peonies, roses, moth orchids, lisianthus, irish bells and various greenery, along with hanging mercury jars and lanterns with candles.’ says Sarah.
I adore the contemporary and elegant feel of the tables at Sarah and David’s reception.
I always think candles create such a romantic atmosphere at weddings.
Two of David’s sisters made the couple’s wedding cake. ‘With lace and flowers from the bouquets, it tied in with the day perfectly,’ says Sarah.
