A Quirky And Relaxed Wedding With Creative Styling In Australia

Ailsa and Phillip first met at work and spent most of their time in front of the coffee machine. However, one Saturday night Ailsa decided to give Phil a call and the conversation only ended after four hours! As Phil said, ‘she stayed over one night and never really left!’
The couple got engaged whilst travelling together to Thailand. After a beautiful dinner, Phil got down on one knee in front of the entire restaurant and proposed. When it came to planning their celebration, they knew that they wanted a relaxed wedding with quirky elements. Ailsa is very creative and went about sourcing many of the decorative objects for the wedding herself. She found a lot of the vases and hanging geometric shapes at vintage stores. Phil and her hand crafted the table numbers by cutting marble slabs in half and hand painting numbers onto them.
Although it did rain on the couple’s wedding day, they were more than happy that it did. ‘Our weather was the start of an Australian summer, so of course, we knew it would be hot, but not that HOT,’ says Ailsa. ‘The temperature climbed up to 41 degrees centigrade (105 Fahrenheit) and I just remember my makeup artist slathering on the foundation to make sure my makeup stayed in place. However the clouds rolled in and half way through the ceremony it started pouring! It was a welcome relief but my hair wasn’t totally loving it.’
