Welcome to the UK's most stylish wedding blog

I am so excited to share my passion for the world of bridal with you, my fashionable bride-to-be’s. I am dedicated to sharing with you the latest wedding fashion trends, the most beautiful real weddings, inspirational receptions, gorgeous hair and beauty ideas, dream honeymoons and much, much more.

To give you a bit of background on myself, I got my first taste of weddings at the tender age of 23 when I was lucky enough to attend the A-list celebrity wedding of Victoria and David Beckham. I didn’t realise it at the time but the Beckham wedding ignited my passion for the wedding industry.

After editing Cosmopolitan Bride magazine, and freelancing for national bridal and non-bridal magazines, I decided to launch Style & the Bride.

I know that you are about to embark on one of the most exciting times of your life. My aim is to help you achieve the most incredible wedding day, your style, your way.

A Very Pretty And Traditional Marquee Wedding At Home In Lincolnshire

Do you like the idea of having a marquee wedding like Katy and Joe had? The couple who first met at a pub in Parsons Green in London dated for three years before getting engaged.

According to Katy, she didn’t see the proposal coming. ‘I wasn’t expecting it at all, ‘ she says. ‘We had a huge holiday booked to Thailand and I secretly hoped he would do it then. We had just finished packing and he asked me to come into the next room in our flat. I thought he couldn’t find his passport, but there he was with a beautiful ring which fitted perfectly.’

When it came to finding a wedding dress for their marquee wedding, Katy originally thought she was going to choose a beautiful Temperley London dress. However, after trying on a Rime Arodaky gown at The Mews of Notting Hill, she knew she had found ‘The One.’

Before their marquee wedding, which took place at Katy’s parents’ home in Lincolnshire. they married at a church (two villages away), with just close family in attendance. ‘We came back to the house, where all our friends were waiting,’ explains Katy. ‘It was perfect.’

Although the couple did not have a wedding planner, Katy says it would not have been the day it was without her parents and younger sister (maid of honour). ‘They were incredible,’ she says.

Katy’s make-up and hair was done by her friend Emily Kent of Mon Amie.

Flowers by Vincent & Stubbs were responsible for the pretty flowers for Katy and Joe’s marquee wedding. Poppy Vincent is a family friend of Katy’s. ‘I only gave her a small brief with the colours that I would like,’ Katy explains. ‘Poppy and her team produced the most beautiful flower arrangement. When we got to the church the night before for the rehearsal, the archway outside was breathtaking, better than what I even imagined.’

Katy’s bridesmaids wore dresses from Ted Baker London. Joe wore a suit from Yardsmen and an Oliver Brown waistcoat.

During the ceremony, and reception the friend of Katy’s sister, Joel Berger played. ‘He was incredible and we later found out that he had just been announced to play at Glastonbury,’ Katy says.

Little touches at the couple’s marquee wedding reception included writing ‘team sheet’ above the mirrored seating plan as Joe plays rugby. Katy used to work at MATCHESFASHION.COM, which was why there was a box of matches. They also had a bottle of Prosecco on display from when the couple lived in Italy for a year and Joe played for Treviso.

Instead of a cake, they had limoncello (homemade by Katy’s mum) and shortbread ( homemade by Jo’s mum).

According to Katy, she will never forget walking into church and seeing Joe’s reaction. ‘He whispered to me, “You look amazing, I love your dress.”

Katy and Joe’s marquee wedding was photographed by Stuart Wilde. ‘We didn’t want many photographs as Joe and I are very impatient,’ says Katy. ‘However he was fantastic and very quick.’ We found him via word of mouth and he did a great job.’
