A Stylishly Cool New York Elopement With Designer Details

I love the contrast between the graffiti wall and Kate and Rob in their stylish outfits.

No sooner had I spotted Kate and Rob’s stylishly cool New York elopement via photographer Amber Marlow, I just knew I had to feature it on Style & the Bride. Amber is a photographer who specialises in New York City wedding and elopement photography, so if you like the idea of eloping, you should just definitely check out her work.

Kate and Rob met through a mutual friend  and dated for eight years before getting engaged. ‘We decided that New York was where we would like to get married after a brilliant weekend trip there last year,’ explains Kate. Before you think eloping has to mean only the two of you getting married alone, think again. You can of course elope like Kate and Rob did with a small group of family and friends. ‘We had initially planned to elope by ourselves, but are so glad that our little group of friends and family were there to share it,’ says Kate. ‘We stayed at the hotel The Ludlow, which made a great backdrop for some of our photos. It also has a great bar where Rob and some of our guests waited in whilst I finished getting ready.’

The couple got married on the 19th May this year at City Hall in New York, followed by lunch at Taverna Di Bacco. ‘We booked a table there after having had dinner there on a previous trip,’ says Kate. ‘We thought the food was delicious and would be liked by everyone in our small but diverse little party. The owner Maurizio made sure that everyone was happy and looked after our guests whilst we were with Amber having our photos taken. We used my bouquet as the table centrepiece. We then went to the rooftop bar at the James Hotel in Soho for cocktails.’

When it came to her wedding outfit, Kate had the top and skirt made by Belle & Bunty. ‘When I went to try it on in their boutique, I knew straight away that it was the one, it’s actually the only outfit I tried on,’ says Kate. ‘They were brilliant and agreed to make it quickly for me. Usually it takes six months, but they did it for me in three.’

Kate’s necklace was from Tiffany & Co, her shoes were from Jimmy Choo (a gift from Rob), and her bag was an old favourite from Anya Hindmarch.’My talented friend Sarah Inwood made me a bouquet featuring peach roses, pink peonies, and hydrangeas.’ says Kate. Her hair and make up was by Cari Duprey whom Kate couldn’t recommend highly enough.

I am in no doubt you will love having a look at Kate and Rob’s gorgeous New York elopement
