An Incredibly Chic Wedding In Mexico
24th June 2016

‘Beyond beautiful, and ‘insanely stunning’ are just some of the descriptions I would use to describe Charlotte and Johan’s incredibly chic wedding in Mexico.
Their wedding photographer Brett Butterstein undoubtedly did a fantastic job at capturing not only the beauty of Mexico, but all the little touches from the couple’s big day.
The couple got married on the 28th November 2015 at Hacienda Temozo in Merida, Mexico. They first met at a bar though mutual friends in Stockholm where Charlotte had moved to from London. ‘He had a big smile and was very interesting to talk to, we spoke for a while before parting and he asked for my number and luckily I said yes,’ Charlotte said.’ We had a great first date the following week and the rest is history.’
Charlotte and Johan dated for two years and were engaged for two years. On Charlotte’s 30th birthday, Johan surprised her with a trip to London. They checked into a romantic suite at Charlotte’s favourite hotel Deans Townhouse. Johan had arranged champagne and roses and at first, Charlotte thought Johan was overdoing things for her birthday. She soon realised that he was about to propose. ‘He was so nervous and pulled out a small black box and held it in his hands, but never opened it, explains Charlotte. ‘He then asked me if I wanted to marry him’ At first, Charlotte thought Johan was joking, but when he opened the box, Charlotte started to cry. ‘In Sweden it’s not traditional to ask the father or parents for their daughter’s hand, says Charlotte. ‘However, as I have a Mexican father and British mother, Johan felt it was appropriate to do so. He had asked them both a week before when we were visiting them in Gothenburg so they already knew what was coming.’
When it came to finding her dream wedding dress, Charlotte travelled to London with her mother. After trying on lots of dresses, Charlotte found ‘The Palace’ dress by Lela Rose at Browns Bride. ‘ I wanted something that was very me, says Charlotte. I wanted to feel elegant yet perhaps a little sexy at the same time with the body hugging fit.’
As Charlotte and Johan decided to get married in Mexico, they enlisted the help of Margarita Fink (Self Service Mexico). ‘She’s an event planner by trade, doing high-end movie premiers and did an amazing job translating our European style into something that was different yet suited the location,’ says Charlotte.
They chose a white, gold and green colour scheme. ‘We didn’t want to take away from the beautiful venue so kept it quite simple,’ explains Charlotte. ‘F’or the ceremony, we had white balloons for guests. They let them float away once we were married. We also provided white petals in cones for guests to throw.’ Handmade fans were placed on the ceremony seats so their guests could cool themselves in style.
I could go on and on describing Charlotte and Johan’s stunningly chic wedding in Mexico, but I bet you can’t wait to see their photographs.
