A City Chic Fashionable Wedding With Such Style In New York

I literally can’t tell you how excited I am to blog Hermione and Michael’s city chic fashionable wedding. How utterly incredible does Hermione look in her beyond stunning yellow dress by Michelle Mason? ‘My mum got married in a bright green, yellow and red number, so I felt that I was entrenching a tradition of anti-tradition,’ says Hermione. ‘Yellow felt right: an undeniably joyful and celebratory colour. In the months after we got engaged, I had a kind of vision of a dress-bright yellow, bias cut, silk, strappy and simple. And then, kind of miraculously, I saw it on NET- A- PORTER the next day with one left in my size’ The only adjustment Hermione did to it was having it hemmed to form a slight train. ‘My friend Stephanie gave me a flower crown from Stone Fox Bride and I asked for blood red ranunculus, white and a touch of peachy yellow to go with the summer palette,’ Hermione explains. ‘I had a little cry (the first of many) when I opened the box that morning and saw it. Hermione’s beautiful Yves Saint Laurent sandals were a very generous gift by her friend Osh. The only other jewellery Hermione wore were ethical diamonds set in gold. ‘We collaborated on the design together, and then my beloved friend Lucy, otherwise known as Rock & Raw Jewellery created them.’
Hermione and Michael got married on the 4th September 2015 at Pioneer Works in Red Hook, Brooklyn, New York. The couple had lots of mutual friends, but didn’t meet properly until their mutual friend Anna Della did some matchmaking disguised as casual networking. ‘I’d been writing about the novelist Rachel Kushner, Michael had been working with her, so Anna Della suggested we have lunch,’ Hermione says. ‘I’d just left a bad relationship so had no interest in dating anyone but we started talking and that was that.’
The couple proposed to each other at the same time on a rock in a lake on midsummer’s night where they had ended up on their first date.
‘Our wedding took part in the late summer, when I’m always at my happiest, ‘says Hermione. ‘It was Brooklyn, so we wanted to feel relaxed, sun-flooded and conducive to the greatest party we could throw. The sunflowers in the garden of Pioneer Works kind of sets the whole tone.’
I am sure you will agree with me that Hermione and Michael’s city chic fashionable wedding just oozes style. It was photographed by Dawn Haraam.
