Welcome to the UK's most stylish wedding blog

I am so excited to share my passion for the world of bridal with you, my fashionable bride-to-be’s. I am dedicated to sharing with you the latest wedding fashion trends, the most beautiful real weddings, inspirational receptions, gorgeous hair and beauty ideas, dream honeymoons and much, much more.

To give you a bit of background on myself, I got my first taste of weddings at the tender age of 23 when I was lucky enough to attend the A-list celebrity wedding of Victoria and David Beckham. I didn’t realise it at the time but the Beckham wedding ignited my passion for the wedding industry.

After editing Cosmopolitan Bride magazine, and freelancing for national bridal and non-bridal magazines, I decided to launch Style & the Bride.

I know that you are about to embark on one of the most exciting times of your life. My aim is to help you achieve the most incredible wedding day, your style, your way.

An Utterly Dreamy Blush And Gold Wedding In Somerset

Isn’t Jayne and Mike’s blush and gold wedding in Somerset just so romantic? I love the colour scheme, just perfect for a spring wedding. They married at St Michaels Church, followed by a reception at North Cadbury Court.

A dreamy photograph of Jayne and Mike.

The couple met through one of Jayne’s university friends, who had gone to school with Mike from the age of six. ‘We actually first met when we were 21, says Jayne. ‘Mike came to visit his school friend at the university for a birthday night out and our eyes first met through a drunken crowded bar.’

Jayne and Mike then bumped back each other eight years later when Mike was playing rugby at a festival. Jayne was at the same festival playing netball. After Mike had seen pictures of Jayne at the festival, he asked her out for a pint of cider and dinner.

According to Jayne, the proposal was very romantic. Mike surprised Jayne by planning a weekend away together for Easter last year, the trip included going to Highclere Castle (Jayne is a big fan of Downton Abbey). Whilst there, Mike planned an Easter egg hunt for Jayne.

When Jayne discovered a giant chocolate egg at the end, Mike was very insistent she opened it, so she did. On discovering a ring box inside, Jayne looked up to see Mike on one knee. ‘I don’t think he has ever seen me speechless before,’ says Jayne. ‘Then came the most perfect few words about our relationship and love, followed by ‘Will you Marry Me?’ I of course started crying in absolutely happiness and shock.’ Although the heavens opened, and they got soaking wet, they of course didn’t care. ‘ I was without a doubt the happiest women in the world,’ explains Jayne.

Jayne’s princess style dress perfectly suited the feel of their blush and gold wedding. It was designed by Viva Bride from Wed2B. ‘I had a seamstress make the dress bespoke for me by adding a beautiful silver thread lace detailed top and making alterations to the neck line and back,’ Jayne explains.

Sparkly metallic shoes from Rainbow Club at John Lewis and a Henrietta bracelet from Olivier Laudus completed her look.

Jayne was very keen that her blush and gold wedding was very romantic, feminine and classic. The flowers were by Julia Moore Floral Designs. ‘I wanted the flowers to be romantic and fluffy in nature to give a soft, elegant overall feel,’ explains Jayne. Julia captured this all beautifully.’

The bridesmaids looked amazing in blush and gold beaded dresses by Adrianna Papell. Jayne and Mike’s flower girl wore a pretty dress from Monsoon.

Both Jayne and Mike were keen to have a whole weekend wedding and for it to have a party celebration vibe. North Cadbury Court was the perfect venue. ‘We had a dinner and casino night for the wedding party on the Friday night,’ says Jayne. ‘We then had a big barbecue and pool party on the Sunday. For the wedding reception, we had drinks and canapés in the stunning grounds of the house as the weather was amazing. This was followed by the wedding breakfast and dancing in the ballroom, cheese & port in the bar, coffee in the north hall and then finished off with an after party in the underground disco.’ Sounds incredible, doesn’t it?

The couple married on a gorgeous April’s day.

The couple chose Pickers Caterers who ‘pride themselves on being a Somerset based company who are passionate about food and offer great service.’ ‘We couldn’t get enough compliments about the food,’ says Jayne.

Jayne was incredibly lucky to have her Aunty Pat and cousin Corinne make their wedding cake. They have their own cake making business. They kindly offered to make the couple’s wedding cake as their present. They had four tiers, each one a different flavour. The flavours were chocolate, lemon, blueberry and Victoria sponge. ‘We didn’t get to see the cake until we walked into the wedding breakfast and we were completely blown away by it,’ says Jayne.

According to Jayne, recalling just one highlight is very difficult. ‘Without a doubt, walking down the aisle with my dad to see Mike at the other end just smiling back at me with so much love in his eyes,’ she says.

Jayne and Mike’s blush and gold wedding was photographed by Albert Palmer Photography.’ He really spends time getting to know you as a couple, listening to your thoughts & making you feel completely at ease,’ says Jayne.’The photos were truly incredible, so creative and better than we could have ever imagined them to be.’
