Style & the Bride Logo

Welcome to the UK's most stylish wedding blog

I am so excited to share my passion for the world of bridal with you, my fashionable bride-to-be’s. I am dedicated to sharing with you the latest wedding fashion trends, the most beautiful real weddings, inspirational receptions, gorgeous hair and beauty ideas, dream honeymoons and much, much more.

To give you a bit of background on myself, I got my first taste of weddings at the tender age of 23 when I was lucky enough to attend the A-list celebrity wedding of Victoria and David Beckham. I didn’t realise it at the time but the Beckham wedding ignited my passion for the wedding industry.

After editing Cosmopolitan Bride magazine, and freelancing for national bridal and non-bridal magazines, I decided to launch Style & the Bride.

I know that you are about to embark on one of the most exciting times of your life. My aim is to help you achieve the most incredible wedding day, your style, your way.

Why A Maroon Wedding Is Simply Perfect For Autumn

Without a doubt, a maroon wedding is simply perfect for autumn. Maroon is described as a brownish red colour in the dictionary, but this doesn’t make it sound very appealing. It is a rich, sumptuous colour, and would work equally well for winter celebrations.

If truth be known, I think one of the reasons why I haven’t blogged about maroon wedding ideas is simple. I wore a maroon school uniform between the ages of 7 and 16. Since those days, I have been unable to pick up a piece of school without memories of my school uniform comes flooding up. Do you feel the same when it comes to wearing the same colour as your school uniform? Or perhaps it is just me?

Sorry, for the slight digression. Now back to beautiful maroon wedding inspiration. If you are like the sound of a maroon wedding, why not team it with the colours gold or black? This will give it even more of a glamorous feel and look particularly striking for an evening celebration. I also think a maroon celebration can work for a city affair or one in the country. I love the idea of dressing some of your adult bridesmaids in maroon and others in black, I think this will look super chic. If you do decide that maroon is right for your adult bridesmaids, I think choosing maroon for your flower girls will be overkill. I would prefer to see your flower girls in cream dresses, perhaps with maroon sashes? If you do however want to dress your little ones in maroon dresses, perhaps opt for another colour for your adult bridesmaids?

I hope you enjoy taking a look at the maroon wedding ideas below. Let me know if it is a colour you would consider for your big day. Drop me a line on I would love to hear from you.
